Darrell Rose Patient Friend

Darrell Rose, learned about the inaugural Road to Victories team from his friend and cycling mate Chuck Wakefield, a myeloma patient. Darrell was one of 7 riders who took on 3400 miles from Manhattan Beach, CA to Fairfield, CT in 2017, making MMRF history and creating bonds that will last a lifetime. Darrel rode alongside friend Chuck as they crossed the country in 2017 –this is an opportunity for them to ride together again with a common goal and objective –raise funds and awareness for multiple myeloma research. “This is not about me riding my bike. This is something much larger and with far greater purpose. This is for my friends who suffer daily. They do not want to struggle with multiple myeloma or any form of cancer but their choice is taken from them. Surly if they can deal with that daily struggle, I can mount my bike and bring greater awareness and financial donations in order to help find a cure.”

The mission of the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) is to find a cure for multiple myeloma by relentlessly pursuing innovation that accelerates the development of next-generation treatments to extend the lives of patients. Founded in 1998 by Kathy Giusti, a multiple myeloma patient, and her twin sister Karen Andrews as a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization, the MMRF is a world-recognized leader in cancer research. Together with its partners, the MMRF has created the only end-to-end solution in precision medicine and the single largest genomic dataset in all cancers. The MMRF continues to disrupt the industry today, as a pioneer and leader at the helm of new research efforts. Since its inception, the organization has raised over $400 million and directs nearly 90% of the total funds to research and related programs.
