Mike’s wife Jeanie was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in June, 2010. In an effort to motivate Jeanie through recovery of her first stem cell transplant in 2010, Mike signed up for his first sprint triathlon with her in 2011 and has been pursuing greater challenges every year. He has cheered her on through 3 marathons post-transplant, including Boston and NYC for the MMRF, and has joined her for a marathon and a couple of Spartan events, a Spartan Beast in 2014 and Spartan Fenway as part of the MMRF Endurance Team in 2015. As a frequent member of MMRF Endurance Team events, Mike has participated in several MMRF events including the inaugural R2V as a member of the Desert Team ( CA to AZ ) and his first ironman at Mont-Tremblant. He has personally seen the positive impact that these events have made on the patients and the MM community, along with the incredible results and quality of life that the MMRF has delivered because of the fundraising.
